Garrett College tuition and fees vary, depending on the number of credit hours you take and whether you live in Garrett County, in another Maryland county, or out of state. The College reserves the right to change tuition and fees at any time at the discretion of the Garrett College Board of Trustees.

Special Tuition Rates and Waivers
If you fit into one of these special categories or are pursuing certain degrees, you may be eligible for reduced or waived tuition as a student at Garrett College.
A special Border County tuition rate is available for verifiable residents of:
- Somerset and Fayette counties in Pennsylvania
- Preston, Tucker, Mineral, and Grant counties in West Virginia
West Virginia residents from the following counties who enroll in the designated programs listed below are eligible to receive in-county tuition rates.
Verifiable residents of Barbour, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Harrison, Marion, Mineral, Monongalia, Pendleton, Preston, Randolph, and Taylor counties may enroll in the following programs:

Garrett College offers several programs of study that have received the Statewide Designated Programs or Health Occupation Shortage Programs status from the State of Maryland. Verifiable Maryland residents who meet all required criteria and enroll in the following programs will receive the in-county tuition rate.

- Maryland residents 60 years of age and older
- Maryland residents out of the workforce due to total and permanent disability
- Maryland National Guard Personnel 50% Tuition Waiver (see your Unit Commander)

Local/state agencies may be able to provide funding to support a student’s education in the form of tuition/fees, transportation, child care, and other needs. Eligibility for funding is determined by the agency and may be limited to certain academic majors and workforce development programs.

Cost of attendance definitions
The following categories are required by HEA, Section 472; 20 U.S.C. 107ll; and as modified by FAFSA Simplification Act PL 260, Division FF, Title VII):
- Tuition & Fees – an amount normally assessed a student carrying the same academic workload, as determined by the institution
- Books, course materials, supplies, and equipment – an allowance for books, course materials and equipment, which must include all such costs required for all students in the same course of study, including a reasonable allowance for the rental or upfront purchase of a personal computer, as determined by the institution
- Transportation – an allowance, as determined by the institution, which may include transportation between campus, residences, and place of work
- Miscellaneous personal expenses – an allowance, as determined by the institution, for a student attending the institution on at least a half-time basis
- Living expenses – an allowance for food and housing costs, as determined by the institution, to be incurred by the student attending the institution on at least a half-time basis
